There is nothing wrong with dreaming big. It could be a hazy dream or a real thing that you want to pursue. But how do you grab hold of something that you sometimes think is too far-fetched?
No Such Thing As Too Idealistic
You tell your friends that you’ll get your dream job that pays good money. On weekends, you’ll travel to different destinations and just pretend that you’re a local; experiencing a culture you’re not that familiar with. Maybe even take photos along the way that you could sell online. They’d stop you just right there with a laugh or a squint and ask you, “Aren’t you being too idealistic?”
Your initial reaction could be the same question but to yourself. When you hear this, trick your mind into believing that there is no such this as too idealistic. The world once told people like Walt Disney that they’re never going to make it and even when he didn’t live to see it, his big dream turned into a vast reality that people now dream to see.

Track Your Advances Like You Would Track Your Retreats
You know how you slip one step and you punish yourself ten times harder? Reengineer this thought by rewarding yourself when get one thing done. It doesn’t have to be a big reward. You can just treat yourself for some good coffee and read that book that you’ve been putting off for weeks now.
The next time you slip a step, do not punish yourself. Wrap your head around your mistake and write down what steps you should’ve taken in the process that you may put the slip for good use. Punishing yourself would only take so much time and might discourage you in trying to reach your goals.
Decide to Hold Tight
Dreaming big could be a little hard and reaching for it could be quite challenging. Keep in mind that making things happen is something that you decide to do and not just something that rains from the sky. So, when you dream big, hold tight by always deciding to take steps towards reaching it.
Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything that you want to do. Not even yourself.
